- Science and sociology - The object of sociological enquiry - The historical origins of sociology - The relationship between sociology and other disciplines - The classic sociology - The main sociological paradigms - Socialization - Institutionalization

Learning outcomes
The character of sociology, its place among other social sciences, common sense and sociological knowledge, the rise of modern societies and sociology, classical sociology - main figures and paradigms, socialization and institutionalization.
Students will be able to differentiate between the everyday and sociological knowledge, they will learn about the main sociological paradigms as defined in the period of classic sociology and its main topics.
Prerequisites
The subject links to knowledge of social sciences in the high school level
