Course content
1. Basic characteristics of social policy - the notion of social policy, the broad and narrow concept of social policy - Principles and functions of social policy - social policy instruments - subjects and objects of social policy - the welfare state? his conception, typology, and issues of his existence - new social risks, social exclusion 2. Social Security - theory and policy of social security on the example of the Czech Republic - characteristics and structure of the system - health insurance - pension insurance - state social support - social assistance - supplementary pension insurance system 3. Employment policy - the definition of the unemployed, the labor market and its segmentation - passive employment policy - active employment policy - Typology of behavior of long-term unemployed, impacts of unemployment on individuals 4. Educational policy - definition of educational policy, function of educational policy - the role of the state in educational policy - levels of education system, actors of educational policy - educational system in the Czech Republic - Family influence on children's educational ambitions 5. Family policy - definition of family policy, typology of family policy, family policy financing - maternity and parenthood in the context of social policy - family policy content - implementation of family policy in the Czech Republic 6. Health policy - the concept of health and quality of life, health and illness in the context of social policy - definition of health policy, health care systems, health policy actors - health insurance, its concept, situation in the Czech Republic - sickness insurance 7. Housing policy - concept of housing policy, typology of housing policy - housing policy in the Czech Republic, housing policy development

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is an interdisciplinary approach (especially, sociology, economics, law) to define social policy as a scientific field and also as a practical activity. Attention is paid to the genesis of social policy, its goals, principles, functions and tools. Students will be explained the basic starting points, approaches and activities of the welfare state, including the "welfare state crisis" with reference to the redistributive activity of the state and ensuring a minimum level of social protection. The course also emphasizes the sub-areas of social policy: social security, health, family, housing, education and employment policy as integral parts of welfare state policy. Within the individual individual policies, the students will get acquainted with the basic goals, characteristics and possible use of tools with an emphasis on the future development of the mentioned policies in the Czech Republic. In the application part of the course, attention is paid to individual social events in the context of partial social policies.
The student can explain the essence of the individual policies included in the concept of active social policy. He is able to derive and compare the situation in the Czech Republic from general theoretical bases, he is able to make critical reflections,
Prerequisites
The subject is taught in context with the knowledge gained in subject related to Social Work Methods, Law for Social Work and Sociology.
