Introduction to the subject - organisation of studies 9.10.2024 - lecture by Dr. David Mutemwi - The importance of foreign development cooperation and humanitarian aid to developing countries - a case study from Zambia Introduction to social work, general background. Introduction to social work- definition, aim of SP Legislative definition of social work, Human rights in social work. Anchoring of social work. Basic concepts of social work. Development of social work and development of Czech social work historical context - self-study. Nature of theories in social work, assessment and choice of theories. Basic methods of social work. The client in social work. Personality of the social worker, supervision, communication. Identity of social work. Ethical aspects of social work.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to define and understand the basic concepts of social work, to get acquainted with the target groups of social work. For a simpler understanding of the current concept of social work, the student encounters the historical development of social work in the Czech Republic and abroad. The student is presented with a basic overview of selected social work theories. In the course of lectures the student learns about the concrete everyday practice of a social worker, understands the importance of the relationship between the social worker and the client, including its ethical aspects and the demands placed on the personality of the social worker. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on understanding the context of social work, social policy and related legislation. Contemporary social issues are dealt with during the classes.
Students will acquire the theoretical basis in the Social Work discipline. They will be able to specify and assess the historical, cultural and social context of the Social Work situation in the Czech Republic. The subject serves as a pre-understanding for other courses in the field of Social Work.

No knowledge beyond the scope of entrance exam requirements is required for the course.

|

- studying the study materials, - individual preparation - self-study - Seminar paper on the topic - individual arrangement of deadlines for handing in the seminar work - condition of passing the final colloquium In accordance with Article 24, paragraph 1, SZŘ JU, the student must obtain credits from this course in the first semester of study (within the required twenty credits). If credits for this course are not obtained in the first semester, it will be decided to terminate his/her studies (in accordance with Article 31, par. 1, letter a) SZŘ JU).
