1. Introduction to social work - definition, purpose of social work. 2. Social work in the Czech Republic. 3. Legislative definition of social work, human rights in social work. 4. Definition of social work. 5. Basic concepts of social work. 6. Development of social work and development of Czech social work - historical context - self-study - seminars work. 7. Nature of theories in social work, assessment and selection of theories. 8. Methods of social work. 9. Personality of the social worker. 10. The client and their world. 11. The identity of social work. 12. Ethical aspects of social work.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to define and understand the basic concepts of social work, to get acquainted with the target groups of social work. For a simpler understanding of the current concept of social work, the student encounters the historical development of social work in the Czech Republic and abroad. The student is presented with a basic overview of selected social work theories. In the course of lectures the student learns about the concrete everyday practice of a social worker, understands the importance of the relationship between the social worker and the client, including its ethical aspects and the demands placed on the personality of the social worker. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on understanding the context of social work, social policy and related legislation. Contemporary social issues are dealt with during the classes.
Students will acquire the theoretical basis in the Social Work discipline. They will be able to specify and assess the historical, cultural and social context of the Social Work situation in the Czech Republic. The subject serves as a pre-understanding for other subjects in the field of Social Work.

- studying literature and other study materials - self-study (see the listed blocks) - voluntary/but recommended - study materials - videos with lectures by experts, - seminar paper - Development of social work - a prerequisite for the exam, - 2 absences allowed, it is necessary to complete and study the topic as part of self-study, - the teacher may assign small tasks related to the topics of social work covered, - oral exam - exam dates will be entered in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of South Bohemia and related measures of the Dean of the Faculty of Theology of the University of South Bohemia in Stag
