Course content
Lectures: 1 - Introduction, basic terminology, decision-making theory, causality, financial strategy, short-term and long-term planning, budgets, result interpretation of elementary methods of financial analysis (vertical, horizontal, ratio, and difference indicators) 2 - Result interpretation of advanced methods of financial analysis (bankrupt and credit models, mathematical-statistical methods), evaluation systems of business efficiency, balanced scorecard, rating, ranking, scoring methods, benchmarking 3 - Economic added values, optimization problems and management of liquidity (production, short-term assets, supply, financing, costs, human factor), reporting, controlling, monitoring, presentation of earnings, annual report 4 - Risk management, economic aspects of crisis management, rescue programmes, specific problems of investment decision-making , feasibility study, application of real options

Learning outcomes
The objectives of the course are systematization and extension of contemporary knowledge of economy and management leading to the acquisition and analysis of information concerning the business management at the managerial level. The emphasis is put mainly on the application and adjustment of these methods to specific environment of a concrete business. Particular methods are verified and demonstrated on case studies and concrete situations of multi-criteria decision making. The process of obtaining information about events significant for a success or failure of the business is deeply described and discussed in the course together with follow-up interpretations and presentation of possible measures leading to the meeting of the stated goals of the business. The set up of a overall conception of the managerial system including property and capital structure, yields, costs, earnings, reporting, controlling, economic added values, optimization problems etc. is the elementary output of the course.
Students understands basic economic relations between financial stability and profitability, they are able to set up an for a particular business evaluation system of its efficiency based on quantitative and qualitative criteria. The students are able to defend their managerial decisions influencing the given business with arguments based on the results of mathematical-economic models.
Prerequisites
The course of Business Economics is a prerequisite for the course of Managerial Economics.

Credit Requirements: Examination Requirements: Students have to perform their practical knowledge presented in the course in a written test and a oral examination focusing on the ability to argue and discuss based on theoretical , economic, statistical, and mathematical knowledge.
