Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the course, basic terminology 2. History of insurance industry 3. Elationship between the insurance company and the insured person, principles of insurance, types of insurance companies 4. Non-life insurance 5. Life insurance 6. Insurance technical reserves, insurance technical venture 7. Commercial insurance companies and their activity 8. Insurance control, law in insurance industry, indicators of insurance market 9. Financial analysis of commercial insurance companies, rating 10 - Pension scheme and comparison of saving products for old age 11. Saving products for old age (continuation of the topic), 12. Health insurance companies 13. Globalisation in insurance industry, 14. Marketing in insurance industry Seminars:

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the basic terminology of insurance industry, definicion of insurance, the venture and influence of fortuity on individuals and society. It deals with the history of insurance policy from the development of this field in the 20th century to the modern and new products. The students will get to know not only about the individual (commercial) insurance but also public medical and old age insurance. They will find out about the work of insurance companies - the economic tools of management, the structure of organization etc. The course also includes the characteristics of reinsurance activity and European insurance market.
Students understand the basic principles of insurance, the terminology concerning insurance industry, they kow the products found on the insurance market. After the course they will be familiar with the offers of insurance companies, with the differences between these institutions but also between their produts.
Prerequisites
There are no a prerequisites courses for the course of Insurance Industry.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam

Credit Requirements: Obtaining answers in the credit test and presentation of an insurance product or a chosen insurance company. Examination Requirements: Students show their knowledge of the field by answering 2 questions. Final mark is based on the results of the credit test and the final examination.
