Course content
Suggested topics of consultations: 1. Regionalism, the theory of regions, regionalization; 2. The methodology for regional development - approaches to regional development; 3. Evaluation of the development potential of regions; 4. The main used approaches (types) of regional analysis; 5. Territorial units of the EU in relation to the CR self-rule; 6. Developing HSS policy; 7. Principles of regional policy objectives of regional policy, structural funds; 8. The system of strategic and programming documents for the European and national level and their interconnectedness; 9. Absorption capacity of the CR; 10. The basic structure of the project - Monitoring and evaluation of projects.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to deepen theoretical and practical approaches to the management of economic and social development of regions. Emphasis is placed on mastering the methodological apparatus in relation to the strategic management of regions within the wider framework of EU policies. Systems theory and systems approach to the concept of the region. Regional Development: regional development theory, innovation theory and models of innovation. Regional policy: actors, forms and instruments of regional policy. Trends in regional policy and economic and social cohesion policy of the EU. Theoretical concepts and approaches of regional development. The competitiveness of regions. Strategic Management Regions. The paradigms of strategic management of regions. Industrial clusters and business networks and social capital. Regional development strategy using clusters. Systems of innovation in regional development. Development programs of municipalities, cities and regions. Structural Funds, Cohesion Fund and Community Initiatives. Management of regional change. Methodological framework for regional management (systems analysis and synthesis). Principles of regional planning, using methodological approaches compatible with EU principles and approaches. Analytical data processing, creating programs for using EU support, including specific projects. Methods for monitoring projects. System of project administration, its institutional, organizational and financial security. The role of quality and audit quality in regional development programs. A link to advisory services associated with the creation and implementation of projects.
The aim of this facultative course is to deepen knowledge in selected areas of regional policy of the European Union and the Czech Republic. Students should understand the interaction of regional and local authorities with the interconnection of managing and coordinating activities of the State, with a view of effective and balanced development of towns, cities and regions. Acquired knowledge in the seminars will provide students with a good orientation in the sphere of EU regional policy in the CR, including the use of EU structural and other funds for the needs of central, regional and local authorities in the country.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic REM.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Examination Requirements: Writing a literature search to a specific issue. Credits will be awarded not earlier than 14 days before the end of the semester in accordance with the measure of Dean No. 124/2017 Article 15. The examinations will be written 3 weeks before the beginning of the examination period in accordance with the measure of Dean No. 124/2017 Article 15.
