Part I. Static identification of the Church and the world definitions in the 2nd Vatican council documents: a) The Church in Lumen gentium: The Church as the People of God, as the Body of Christ, as the communional institution. b) Two dogmatic definitions of the Church: The Church as continuata incarnatio (Felix Malmberg) and the Church as continuata Unctio (Heribert Mühlen). c) Definition of the world in the pastoral constitution Gaudium et spes. Part II. Mutual dynamic penetration of the Church and the world: a) Five paradigms of the Church according to Hans Küng: 1) Jewish-apocalyptic of the Christian morning, 2) Ecumenical-Hellenistic of the ancient Christianity, 3) Roman-catholic of the medieval Christianity, 4) protestant-evangelical times of reformation, 5) modern times of the Enlightenment and progress. b) Revolutionary dynamics of the western Christianity: c) Definition of the revolution as Constitutio libertatis (Hannah Arendt, Joseph Comblin) d) Five revolutionary "waves" of the two millenniums of the Christian west: 1) papal revolution (fights for liberation of the Church), 2) revolution of the Christian laity (for freedom of the particular Christian in the Church and state), 3) civic (bourgeois) revolution (for freedom of the citizen in the state), 4) socialistic revolution (for freedom of the wage laborers from an economic exploitation), which later splits into its two branches - social democracy and communism, 5) "velvet" revolution for human rights. e) Meeting point of ideals of those five revolution waves in the "Charter 77", and its fight for human rights. f) Situation, problems and tasks of the Church in the democratic society and context of post modernity.

Learning outcomes
|
Give to the student an insight to the mutual relationships between the Church and the world, as they were formed in the past and are formed in present and sketch some directions how they seems to be formed in the near future according to the Gaudium et spes patterns (especially chapters 3 and 4). Which applications spring from there for service of Christians and Church leaders towards the world?
Student will gain knowledge enables him or her to became involved in the service of the Church to the contemporary society.

Oral examination
Students have to make their own notes from lectures and show them to the lecturer during their oral exam.
