Course content
List of topics: - Two branches (Ionian and Eleatic) - Return to the philosophy of nature after Parmenides (Empedocle, Anaxagoras, atomism) - Anthropological turn in philosophy (Socrates, the Sophists, Socratic schools) - The classical period of Greek philosophy (Plato, Aristotle) - The Hellenistic philosophy (epicureanism, stoicism, skepticism, Neoplatonism) - Patristics (Augustin and the church fathers, heretics) - End of Ancient Thougt (Boethius)

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subjet is to give a basic outline of the ancient Greek and Roman philosophy.
The student gets an overview of the history of the ancient philosophy, of the ways of philosophical thought and argumentation in the period.
