Course content
1. Introductory lesson 2. Plato's three parabels - on the sun, line and cave 3. Plato's conception of the universe. 4. Plato's conceprion of the soul.

Learning outcomes
The task of the seminar is reading and interpretation of selected passages of Plato's dialogues: Timaeus, Republic, Phaedrus, Phaedo, Symposium. The aim of the seminar is to present and explain the main thesis of Plato's thinking and to show his great influence on the Western philosophical tradition.
Students develop their ability to understand and deal with a complex historical text.

Seminar work

Attendance 80 %; presentation; 6-7 page interpretative paper
