Course content
1. Non-damped simple harmonic oscillations. 2. Damped harmonic oscillations. 3. Forced oscillations and thein technical application. Oscillation composition. 4. Oscillation decomposition onto harmonic oscillation - harmonic analysis. 5. Waves. Standing waves. Travelling waves. Energy of waves. Principals. Snell's law. 6. Interference and diffraction of travelling waves. Special type sof waves. 7. Sound. Infrasound and ultrasound and their aplication. Doppler´s effect. Electromagnetic waves. Polarization. 8. Elementary optics phenomena. Historical development of opinions about light properties. Elementary properties of light beams. 9. Wave optics. Coherence and interference. (thin plane-parallel plate interference, Newton´s glasses, grating and optical slit). 10. Particle optics - photoelectric and Compton´s effect. Lasers, holography, quantum optics. 11. Geometrical optics - image formation by refraction at a spherical surface, image formation using thin and thick lenses. Lenses´ optical imperfections. 12. Optical instruments. Diaphragm and its function. Physiological optics. 13. Optical spectra, prism light decomposition, Birefringence (natural and artificial) photoelastcimetry, photometry. 14. Time extra left

Learning outcomes
Knowledge enlarging of an elementary course. Technical applications, mathematical deriving of important formulas.
Students are acquainted with trends of development in ray, quantum and wave optics.
Completion of a subject specialized in the following phenomena: oscillating motion, waves, optics.
