Course content
1) Brief history of computer development, types of computers - digital, analogue and hybrid, signal carriers. 2) Number (digit) systems. 3) Displaying of numbers, Boolean algebra, mistakes checking and their correction. 4) Semiconducting elements, transistors, unipolar and bipolar, flip-flop circuits. 5) Combinational and sequentional automatic machines, analysis and synthesis. 6) Computer architecture of von Neumann and Harvard type. 7) Arithmetical - logical unit, adder. 8) Control unit, shift registers, buffer registers. 9) Memories, types of memories, addressing. 10) Buses and channels. 11) Standard computer interface. 12) Processor, microprocessor architecture. 13) Magnetic recording media.

Learning outcomes
Basic concepts of computer science, history of computers, Boolean algebra, semiconductors, flip-flop circuits, binary arithmetic, computer diagram, basic principle of datastorage, procesors.
Students are to understand functions of different parts of a computer.
