Course content
Foreign language II (English language) The aim of the course is to improve language competence of the students both in receptive (listening and reading) and productive (speaking and writing) skills. As the students should reach B1 level according to CEFR, the course will focus on understanding and usage of basic grammatical structures often used in academic texts (e.g. passive) and on widening vocabulary in the area of ESP. In receptive skills, the students will listen to ESP texts (lectures, documentaries, radio programmes) and read academic texts. The course is meant as an ESP course- i.e. English for Specific Purposes. That is why students will learn to summarise academic texts in both speaking and writing , will present their reseacrh orally from written notes and comment on oral presentations. Foreign language II (German language) The aim of this subject is to deepen the student´s language skills that are necessary to actively use science communication in the subject area, both in oral and written form. The requirements to successfully pass the subject correspond to the knowledge of B1 level.
