Course content
1. Lead in into laboratory works - organisation, work safety regulations in the laboratory. 2. Measuring properties of photosensitive elements. 3. Measuring focal length of thin lens using different methods. 4. Wavelength measurement of spectral lines of mercury discharge lamp using optical grind. 5. String oscillation studying. 6. Optical laboratory methods (Measuring index of refraction using refractometer). 7. Damped oscillations studying, oscillation composing. 8. Michelson's interferometer - stating laser wavelength, index of refraction measurement. 9. Photometric measurements (luminous intensity measurement). 10. Measuring index of refraction of optical prism dependence on light wavelength. 11. Studying of elementary parameters of telescopes. 12. Acoustics measurements (sound speed measurement). 13. Microscopic measurements. 14. Final lesson - giving credits.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Laboratory
Learning outcomes
Measuring of twelve set tasks - string oscillations, acoustics, geometrical optics (lens, prism, tescopes, refractometer), wave optics (grid, polarimetry), optoelectronic elements, fotometry. Applicants will learn how to use elementary and optical devices and how to measure with them. Measured values are individually processed.
Ability to put together an apparatus and carry out physical measurement and its processing.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of wave oscillation and optics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of student's work activities (technical works)

Basic measuring skills and evaluation of measured data in wave, oscillation and optics. Students fulfill all tasks and hand in completed protocols.
