Learning outcomes
The subject follows the previous lessons "Computer Technology in Geographical Education", which introduced the basics of GIS and basic work with the ArcView. The objective is to deepen knowledge and the GIS skills and to show to the students possibilities offering by the Remote Sensing. Main solving themes - database structures, data models used in GIS, data import and export, geo-referencing, digitalizing, the basic digital map backgrounds, GIS in public administration, digital terrain (landscape) model (DMT), satellite positioning systems, Global Positioning System (GPS), principles of the remote sensing, physical principles of the remote sensing, classification of visual data, modern geo-information technologies.
Student competences after graduation of the subject result especially from the aims of the subject (see.) and the content of the subject (see.).

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Students have to make good tutorial tasks at programme ArcGIS and work up maps (according to task) at programme ArcMap 9.1
