Course content
Definition and importance of biodiversity. Present state of endangering by single groups of animals. Activities in the sphere of agricultural biodiversity within the frame of plant and animal genetic resources. Definition, importance and practical usage of single taxons of farm animals. Phylogeny of main, but also lesser-known species of farm animals. Historical, social and breeding sense of local breeds. Local breeds formely and presently taken in territory of Central Europe. Effects, limiting existence of local breeds. Fundamental terms and definitions within National Programme of Preservation and Utilization of Farm and Commercial Animals Gene Resources. Sense and importance of regeneration of Czech Red cattle, realized by Faculty of Agriculture, University of South Bohemia in Czech Republic. Global strategies of single states and regions in frame of biodiversity.

Learning outcomes
Analysis of phylogenic studies of organisms, mainly of single species of farm animals, with emphases to practice-important relations to biodiversity preservation of original, but also continously formated forms - taxons.
Methods of evaluation of diversity. Preservation of diversity. Importance for practical animal and plant breeding.
