Course content
The definition of diversity. The importace for evolution. Diversity of wild species, and farm animals and plants. Reasons of decrease of diversity. Arguments and goals of saving of diversity. Evaluation of the diversity and its reducing. Methods of saving, in situ, ex situ. Genetic markers for the diversity, biometrical evaluation. Software for genetic diversity.

Learning outcomes
Fundamentals of genetic diversity especially in farm animals, usefulness for breeding. Saving of diversity.
Theoretic information on the genetic diversity and genen resources in animal and plant breeding. Importance for the future breeding, for preservation of cultural heritage.
