Course content
Isolation and cloning of genes or DNA fragments. Techniques of transgenesis and introduction of insert into the target genome, transgene inheritance. Use of products of genetically modified organisms in agriculture, medicine, industrial biotechnology, environmental protection, risk assessment of GMO. Additional requirements for the student: General mastery of genetically modified organisms - animals and plants. Mastering the basic procedures of transgenesis. Advantages and risks of using products of genetically modified organisms.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Semestral paper - 90 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 50 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 50 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint doctoral students with the procedures listed below and partial mastery of some basic techniques for the development of genetically modified organisms.
The student can independently navigate in the given issue and is able to use the acquired knowledge in their scientific activities or other practice.
Prerequisites
The student is familiar with the issues within the scope of university studies and is willing to study independently.
