Course content
1. Structure and ultrastructure of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, structure of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genes and genome. Genomic characteristics of viruses and viroids. Cell cycle, molecular cell view and cellular processes. 2. Chemical composition of the cell, structure and function of biomolecules, functional classification of biomolecules. Biomembranes, organelles. 3. Structure and function of proteins, membrane proteins, protein purification and detection. 4. Nucleic acids, structure, function. 5. Basic molecular genetic mechanisms in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Replication, repair. 6. Transcription and post-transcriptional adaptations. 7. Translation and post-translational adaptations. 8. Regulatory mechanisms, regulatory genes and their products, positive and negative regulation, activation and repression. 9. Regulation on post-transcriptional, translation, post-translational, regulation. 10. Molecular structure of genes and chromosomes. Genomic stability, polyploidization, duplication and modification of genes at the genomic and genomic level.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge about structure and function of prokaryote and eukaryote genomes and basic molecular processes at cell level
Students are able to orientate in the field of cell and molecular biology

Standard knowledge of biology

Oral examination

Active participation in exercises, protocols from laboratory exercises, understanding the curriculum defined for the exam.
