Course content
Doctoral students will be introduced to nucleic acid isolation techniques, separation methods, hybridization techniques and DNA cloning methods. They will gain detailed knowledge in the field of techniques based on the polymerase chain reaction, detection of microsatellite polymorphisms and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), population variability and diversity studies techniques. Methods of structural genomics (genome mapping, sequencing), special methods of functional genomics (eg reverse transcription PCR), nucleic acid quantification (real-time PCR) and new techniques of large-scale screening (microarray).

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Semestral paper - 90 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 50 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 50 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is a detailed acquaintance with the principles, procedures and variants of current techniques of molecular genetics with regard to the use of these techniques and methods in the plant and animal genomics.
The student can independently navigate in the given issue and is able to use the acquired knowledge in their scientific activities or other practice.
Prerequisites
The student is familiar with the issues within the scope of university studies and is willing to study independently.
