Course content
Introduction to the discipline, historical survey in the embryotransfer. Artificial insemination and its role in livestock breeding. Technological procedure ET in embryos in vivo after superovulation. Limiting factors for embryotransfer method. Physiological sexual cycle. Rut synchronization. Superovulation and repetitionary superovulation. Embryo preservation by freezing. Embryos produced in vitro. Used micromanipulation with embryos. Embryotransfer. Biotechnology of future. Biotechnology usage in animal breeding. Hazard and ethic aspects of biotechnology development. Differences and use of ET findings in cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to introduce with contemporary cognizance status about animal biotechnology and perspective developments.
Students have an overview of animal biotechnology focused on breeding and breeding practice.

Genetics I - KGV/GEN1, Genetics II - KGV/GEN2, Biochemistry - KCH/BCHVZ

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam

Appropriate knowledge of animal breeding, molecular and population genetics. Credit test.
