Course content
1. Introduction. Theory of the operating systems. Basic tasks of the OS 2. - 3. Management of memory 4. - 5. Management of processes. Multitasking. 6. Synchronization of processes. 7. Deadlock and its solutions. 8. Management of peripherals. 9. Management of block devices. 10. Data protection. RAID. File system permissions. 11. Licenses of the software. 12. Security of OS. 13. OS and education.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to understand basic functions of operating systems and concepts which are connected with operation systems. Students should adopt principles of Windows desktop operating systems management.
Student acquires knowledge of the operating systems theory. He or she extends the knowledge of management of Windows operating system.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Working-out short-dated tasks. Passing the written test (one ordinary and one resit attempt). Passing of oral exam.
