1. Computer networks and their classification 2. Communications model, his components, basic principles of communication 3. Physical layer 4. Link layer 5. Ethernet, VLAN 6. IP protocol 7. Network layer 8. Transport layer 9. - 10. Application layer 11. - 12. Wireless networks. Wi-Fi 13. Security of computer networks

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Laboratory
Learning outcomes
The basic principles of the recent computer network and survey of basic knowledge for network management is the content of this course.
Students will be able to design practically simple LANs, will have a view in network administration and of possibilities of networks interconnection (including interconnection on thr Internet) and of problems with computer network security.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of operating systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Active participation in seminars (at least 80 %) Working out two seminar tasks (necessary to gain in sum at least 55 % of points; without resit attempts). Passing of oral exam
