Course content
1) The intangible assets and their system, intellectual property law - principles, theory of protection (dotation 2/0) 2) The legal protection of inventions, utility models, exhaustion, European and Community patents. Legal protection of industrial designs, Community model, the international protection of designs, suggestions for improvements (dotation 4/2) 3) Trademarks, Community trademark, international protection, appellations of origin and geographical indications (dotation 4/2) 4) Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights and its tools, anti-piracy law and cooperation with customs authorities for import and export, consumer protection against counterfeiting; Industrial Property Office, nationality 'patent' court, patent attorneys, mediators and arbitrators in this area (dotation 2/0) 5) Patent and trademark information retrieval and their role in research; methods of valuation of intellectual property rights; industrial and legal strategies (dotation 2/0) 6) Copyright law in Czech Republic, copyrights and personal property, copyright notices (dotation 2/0) 7) Employee work, school work, protection of intellectual property at JU, comparation with other universities (dotation 2/0) 8) The commercialization of research and development and its forms. Types of contractual relations in the area of intellectual property - licensing agreement, work contract, contract on transfer of rights, license agreement and a contract for work intangibles under the new Civil Code; Public International Law (WIPO, TRIPS) and EU law in the field of intellectual property, international private law and the law - conflict of law rules (dotation 2/0) 9) Unfair competition and intellectual property, "unprotected" intangible assets and their protection by sanctions of unfair competition - trade secrets, know-how, goodwill, domain name, business name (dotation 2/0)

Learning outcomes
The course aims to teach students the basics of intellectual property and copyright, its protection, commercialization, technology transfer, licensing, establishing start up and spin-off companies and intellectual property protection to the JU.
Ability to openly discuss your interests and goals and find the right job.
Prerequisites
No exceptional assumptions are required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, Seminar work

Elaboration of seminar work, independent study of prescribed literature. Control test.
