Course content
The lectures will examine the legal norms governing the keeping and breeding of dogs, the characteristics of the main breeds of dogs and their development with a view to forming the main character traits. In detail, the ethology of the dog as a packing species, especially its position in a pack of people, the biology and physiology of the dog, the conditions for inclusion of the dog and the female into the breeding, the cover of the female and puppy breeding, the care of the bitch and the puppies of the breeder, his upbringing at the new owner, stages of training, care of the health of dogs and their nutrition, principles of first aid, organization of cynology and breeding.

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the subject is to introduce students to principles of breeding and keeping dogs. The lectures will examine the legal norms governing the keeping and breeding of dogs, the characteristics of the main breeds of dogs and their development with a view to forming the main character traits. In detail, the ethology of the dog as a packing species, especially its position in a pack of people, the biology and physiology of the dog, the conditions for inclusion of the dog and the female into the breeding, the cover of the female and puppy breeding, the care of the bitch and the puppies of the breeder, his upbringing at the new owner, stages of training, care of the health of dogs and their nutrition, principles of first aid, organization of cynology and breeding.
The student will learn basic principles of breeding, education and training of dogs.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Seminar work

The student will prepare a seminar work on the topic: Characteristics of selected breed of dog, its breeding and use. The seminar work will be processed in the form of a PPT presentation in a maximum of 25 image fields and will be presented at a joint seminar.
