Course content
Lecture: 1. Introduction to the basic concepts of water management and the basics of hydrology, Ecological stability, description of soil degradation 2. The historical modifications of watercourses in the Czech Republic and their consequences, The process of watercourses revitalization, Objects used during the revitalization of watercourses 3. History of the creation of small water reservoirs, Formation of small water reservoirs, Technical elements of small water reservoirs, The process of revitalization and maintenance of small water reservoirs 4. Revitalization of the greenery in the landscape, Revitalization of wetlands, peat bogs and riparian forests, The content and requirements of revitalization studies

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Work with text (with textbook, with book), E-learning, Individual preparation for exam, Work with multi-media resources (texts, internet, IT technologies)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to present basic information about the development of landscape and human activities leading to adjust it to its natural state. There will be presented important landscaping measures as an integral part of regional development. Students will gain knowledge of the issue landscaping and revitalization of small streams and reservoirs. They will practically try solving problems associated with dimensioning channels and revitalization treatments.
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to prepare a study of revitalization of landscapes and watercourse, including all necessary hydrotechnical calculations. Students can evaluate the landscape revitalization projects.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of mathemathics, geography and GIS

Written examination, Seminar work

Credit requirements: Submission of seminar work Examination requirements: Written test (60 % success rate)
