Course content
|
1. Basic concepts and contexts of business. 2. Types and goals of business, social significance and responsibility. 3. Entrepreneur, his characteristics, assumptions of a successful entrepreneur. 4. Company, its definition, types of companies according to size and ownership, life cycle of the company. 5. Business process, business opportunities and possibilities of their generation, business plan. 6. Legal conditions and obligations of a beginning entrepreneur. 7. Self-employed persons, types of trades according to the Trade Licensing Act. 8. Classification of business corporations and basic principles of their activities. 9. Companies, partnerships, capital companies, European companies and European economic interest groups. 10. Cooperative and business of non-profit organizations. 11. Entities providing services to entrepreneurs, science and technology parks, business incubators. 12. Business support in the European Union and in the Czech Republic in the current planning period. 13. Management of small and medium companies. 14. Specifics of business in the agri-food sector.

Learning outcomes
|
Graduates will get acquainted with the aspects determining the success of business, with business management and the preparation of business management plan. Part of the course is the creation of a business plan with the possibility of consulting with an expert from practice. Successful procedures for starting a business will be specifically described on practical examples and with the involvement of experienced entrepreneurs in teaching. A significant part of the course is devoted to the issue of securing financial resources, including the possibility of using available business support and institutions focused on business support.
The student is able to compile a business plan and masters basic business terminology.

Test, Seminar work
Credit requirements: active participation during consultations, submission of a developed business plan Exam requirements: written test (10 multiple-choice questions; min. Success rate = 60%)
