Course content
Lecture: 1. Introduction to the basic concepts of conservation and management of water resources 2. Legislation relating to the protection and use of water resources 3. Physical properties of water 4. Organoleptic properties of water 5. Characteristics of the basic elements in waters 6. Characteristics of the basic elements in waters 7. Biogeochemical cycles of elements 8. Evaluation of water quality 9. Comparison of various water quality standards 10. Development of water quality in streams 11. Development of water quality in reservoirs 12. Mineral Water 13. Adjustment water into potable water, wastewater treatment 14. Protection of water resources, the design of protective zones of water sources Practice: 1. Introduction to study literature and conditions for passing the subject 2. Description of soil degradation 3. Review the procedure for calculating water erosion 4. Processing of calculating the rate of erosion hazard of water erosion in the selected area 5. Processing of data flows 6. Description of watercourses and protection possibilities 7. Description and objectives of seminary work on exploration and description of selected catchment 8. Description of reservoirs in the selected area 9. Processing of data from analyzes of samples of surface water 10. The process of evaluation of water quality based on the results of analyzes 11. Processing of the trophy determining 12. A process for detecting the characteristic values of the results of water quality analysis 13. Presentation of seminar work 14. Presentation of seminar work

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to inform the audience about natural waters quality and about possibilities of their protection and bettering.
Upon completion of the course, students understand the concepts of water management, water quality and protection of water resources. They are able to independently describe and evaluate the qualitative characteristics of water resources and to describe and propose their protection.

Basic knowledge of mathemathics, geography and GIS

Written examination, Seminar work, Self-reflection

Credit requirements: Participation in the exercises, processing of protocols from excercises, submission and presentation of seminar work Examination Requirements: Written test (60 % success rate)
