Course content
1. Division of buildings on land and engineering according to their function 2. General principles for site selection and earthworks realization. Foundations and waterproofing isolations 3. Construction systems, vertical and horizontal load-bearing structures 4. Partitions, Perimeter non-load-bearing walls, Fillings of holes 5. Stairs, Elevators 6. Surface Treatment, Floors, Ceilings 7. Roofing of buildings - flat and sloping roofs 8. Technical equipment of buildings 9. Basic insight into engineering structures - water management structures 10. Basic insight into engineering structures - roads 11. Basic insight into engineering structures - bridges and tunnels 12. Introducing the AutoCAD drawing program 13. Creating and reading drawings, working with documentation

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Projection, Graphic and art activities

Learning outcomes
The aim of the teaching subject is to acquire the basic understanding of designing and building of ground and engineer buildings and to clarify the difference between them. Further, to create conditions for a practical cooperation with civil engineers; to teach how to work with building documentations of different forms, notations and elaborations.
Students will acquire complex knowledge about building structures, their mutual interaction and will be able to elaborate basic building drawings.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of building materials and structures, knowledge of the basic terms used in the design of buildings, ability to work independently, ability to make electronic or classical drawings.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Seminar work

Requirements for credit: attending exercises, elaboration of tasks and drawings Requirements for exam: pass a written test (min. 50%)
