Course content
|
1.- 2. Random variable. Distribution functions. 2. Discrete random variables. Examples of discrete random variables. 3. Absolutely continuous random variables. Examples of continuous random variables. 4. Characteristics of random variables. 5. The law of large numbers. Central limit theorem. 6. Statistical file. Random choose. Data types (nominal, ordinal, metric). 7. Frequency distribution and their representation. Descriptive statistics (characteristics of position and variability, quartiles, coefficient skewness and sharpness). Estimates of normal distribution parameters. 8. General principles of hypothesis testing. Critical values, p-value. 9. - 10. Parametric tests (one-sample t-test, paired t-test, two-sample t-test, test of agreement of two variances, ANOVA). 11. - 12. Nonparametric tests (Wilcoxon tests, sign test, Kruska - Wallis test, Friedman test). 13. Correlation analysis. Goodness-of-fit tests. 14. Pivot tables.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of probability theory and basic statistical methods.
After completing the course the student will be able to solve application examples requiring basic knowledge of probability theory. He will also be able to evaluate data obtained on the basis of quantitative research.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of differential and integral calculus.

|
Oral examination, Student performance assessment, Test
During the semester, students work out assigned tasks. Exam test + oral exam.
