Course content
1. Concept creation process, Mechanical knowledge, formal teaching, Phylogeny and ontogeny in the concept creation process 2. Motivation and mathematics 3. Argumentation and proof 4. Mathematical literacy in PISA, international comparative study TIMSS 5. Experimentation in mathematics 6. Phylogeny and ontogeny in the concept creation process 7. Talented pupils and competitions 8. Pupils with special needs and mathematics 9. Algebraic expressions 10. Equations and inequalities, word problems 11. Functions and functional thinking 12. Handling data 13. Number fields 14. Combinatory

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The course is the introduction into the didactics of mathematics for the lower secondary mathematics teachers. General issues are introduced: strategies of teacher's work, logical and didactic background of mathematics education.
The goal of the course is to obtain knowledge of mathematics didactic and connect it with students´experience and beliefs.
Prerequisites
Mathematical knowledge responding to graduates of high school.

Written examination

Active participation in seminars, seminar work and its presentation. Portfolio management
