Course content
1) Detailed study of selected research reports (about 10). Description of the research problems solved in them together with related research designs. 2) Comparison of studied research reports. Identification of both weak and strong sides of particular research designs, detection of weaknesses and incomprehension in their description. 3) Processing of a study. Presentation.

Learning outcomes
The main aim of the study is realization of own research in didactics of mathematics in all its phases: formulation of the problem and research questions, design of methods suitable for the investigations, evaluation of the results. Student gets an overview on different types of research in didactics of mathematics and research methods used in the field. Comparing published research reports the student should analyze strong and weak features of different research designs in relation with type of research.
The student gets an overview on research methods used in didactics of mathematics; he/she learns to evaluate critically realized research. He/she learns to elaborate research reports and their presentations.

subject The theory of education in mathematics, pasive knowledge of English

Assessment methods and criteria
Essay, Student performance assessment

Analysis of several (aprox. 10) research reports which were published in peer reviewed journals or presented in international conferences (such as PME, CIEAEM, CERME). Elaboration of an essay in a range of at least 3 000 words and its presentation in the workshop.
