Course content
Content of lectures: 1. Advanced genetic tools in Drosophila model 2. Protein expression analysis, Western blotting 3. Protein tagging and proteomics 4. Immunohistochemistry and antibody production 5. Cell transfection, cell culture 6. Targeted mutagenesis, CRISPR/Cas9 7. Next generation sequencing methods - genome assembly and comparisons 8.Next generation sequencing methods in gene expression and epigenetics 9. 13C biology and metabolomics 10. Flow cytometry and cell sorting

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
This Specialized course is for Master and PhD students working in the field of molecular biology (or related areas of experimental biology). The goal is to present advanced methods used in molecular and cell biology research.
Absolvents of this course should be able to understand most of the molecular-biology techniques not only in the scientific field. Students should be able to design experiments independently and serve as an advisors for student from other than molecular-biology fields.
Prerequisites
Student should have a good knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques. Further they should be able to orient in the most of the moleculab and developmental biology terms and in basic genetics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Development of laboratory protocols

To successfully complete the course, it is necessary to pass the written test with min. 50% and it is necessary to participate in 2 selected practices and prepare protocols from them according to the instructions of the specific supervisor.
