Course content
Thematic units : 1. Basic principles of Business Intelligence (BI) 2. The application of BI in business management, effects and critical success factors of BI , planning and analysis of BI, BI tasks management 3. Principles of development in BI, links to other applications 4. Description of basic technologies OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing), demonstration of the principles on examples 5. Design and modeling - principles of dimensional modeling 6. Data quality, data quality management, solving of problem of granularity of data, solving of relationships of observed indicators 7. Principles of implementation of BI, data pumps, principles of ETL 8. Database environment, data warehouse environment MS SQL Server 9. MS SQL Server (MS Power BI) - environment for data warehouses - the principles, architecture, components, basic management 10. Solution BI client applications, OLAP cubes 11. Interrogation means to multidimensional databases 12. Data Mining - Data Mining, description of the basic principles and application options

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to show the basic principles and procedures of business intelligence, to give an idea of the use of business intelligence in management and business. Application of these methods and principles will be demonstrated in a database server environment, such as in MS SQL Server. Creating data warehouses and data markets will be shown. The student should be able to design and implement business intelligence solutions for real business appliactions.
Students should be able to perform basic design and implementation of business intelligence solutions for deployment in real-world conditions.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic principles of databases.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam, Seminar work

Working up several homeworks, creating a project application.
