Course content
Main topics: 1. Introduction - function and importance of operating systems 2. Division and history of operating systems 3. Microsoft operating systems 4. UNIX operating system 5. Linux operating system 6. Install Windows 7. Linux installation 8. Scripting languages 9. Web and database server configuration 10. Configure file and print server 11. Managing users in individual OS 12. OS security 13. OS and corporate environment. Software license

  • Semestral paper - 22 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
A practically focused course which is aimed at the terminology and administration of the Windows and Linux operating systems.
The student acquires a basic idea of the recent elemental operating systems of Windows and Linux. The student will learn how to administrate and adapt these systems and acquire knowledge and abilities for the administration of a company network.

The course has no prerequisities.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, Seminar work

Credit Requirements: Active participation at seminars (80%). Working on short, dated tasks (min 65%). Passing a written test.
