Course content
|
Topics: 1 - introduction, basic terminology, 2 - history of computer creation, 3 - data representation, 4 - computer architecture, 5 - input device, 6 - output device, 7 - external storage devices, 8 - basic instructions, description and function of processors, 9 - controller and its functions, 10 - microprogramming, RISC and post-RISC processors, 11 - memory types, virtual memory and paging, 12 - interconnection systems, types and functions of bus, networks, arbitration, 13 - DMA, multiprocessors and parallel systems, 14 - non-traditional architecture.

Learning outcomes
|
This subject provides basic knowledge of information system technical interface, their classification, features and development trends. Students will learn to comapre and evaluate technical means and choose the suitable ones on the base of given criteria. Knowledge of this branch, that is needed especially for IS programming, will be provided. In this course the sutdents will get acquainted to the lowest physical levels of computers.
Students can compare and evaluate technical means and choose the suitable ones on the base of given criteria. Students are able to design information systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Combined exam, Test
Credit Requirements: Presentation of a project, credit exam.Global success rate minimally 65%. Examination Requirements: Students will demonstrate complex knowledge of technical principles of comuputers. The total note will be given on the base of credit test and exam results.
