Course content

Learning outcomes
Once learners graduate and go out into practice, they need to continue to maintain contact with contemporary German. If they do not have direct contact with native speakers, they can use relevant and verified electronic resources. Optimal in this case are the various corpora and the databases (often very comprehensive explanatory dictionaries) that are based on them, which offer the possibility of searching for answers to various questions, e.g. of a grammatical or lexical nature. The aim of the course is to offer students an insight into these sources and to teach them how to work with them at least in a basic way. Individual work with resources of this type significantly improves learners' language skills. It allows for effective individual further education of graduates and makes it easier for them to maintain contact with the living language. Teaching is conducted in German.
The learner becomes familiar with corpora and other relevant electronic resources that provide contact with authentic German and support in solving grammatical or lexical problems. Specific parallel corpora or databases will offer support in the search for an equivalent in a second language. These competences can be used by the learner during his/her studies (e.g. when writing his/her thesis) or in his/her own professional practice as support in case he/she does not have direct contact with a native speaker.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of German at level B2+ according to CEFR.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Interim evaluation

Active participation in teaching, continuous preparation for individual seminars (work with corpora and other internet database resources), presentation on the assigned topic (oral, written submission). Verification of knowledge takes place in German.
