Course content
1. introduction - terminology 2. articulatory phonetics - phonation, articulation 3. acoustic phonetics - sound, speech, computer analysis of speech 4. auditory phonetics - anatomy, physiology, listening and speech perception 5. phonetics and phonology, phonotactics 6. segmental phonology - vowels, diphtongs 7. segmental phonology - consonants 8. phonetics and orthography 9. suprasegmental phonology - syllable, stress 10. suprasegmental phonology - rhythmus, intonation 11. coarticulation, assimilation 12. articulatory varieties of contamporary German 13. codification of articulation 14. voice hygiene

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Focus on segmental components of German phonetic-phonological system. Correct German pronunciation.. Listening comprehension.
Students will be able to read and to speak texts wiht correct german pronuntiation. They wiil acquire the principles of german orthography. They will be able to understand local varieties of native speakers (except of dialects). In lectures they will acquire an overview of german phonetics and phonology in comparison with the Czech ones.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of segmental components in current German.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment

All examinations and consultations are held in German. Reading and speaking with correct pronunciation, test in orthography.
