Course content
1. survey of main differences in pronoutiation between Czech and German 2. word stress in German words 3. word stress in non- German words 4. suprasegmental phonology - sentence stress 5. suprasegmental phonology - intonation, rhythm 6. suprasegmental phonology - other features, listening 7. main principles of international phonetc notation, symbols for transcription in German 8. training of transcription 9. introduction into deutsche Schrift 10. work on texts in deutsche Schrift 11. changes in connected speech - assimilation, Auslautverhärtung 12. main pinciples of German orthography 13. varieties of pronouociation of contemporary German 14. evaluation

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Seminars focus on suprasegmental components of German phonetic system. Correct German pronunciation. Competence in German orthography and international phonetic notation.
Students will be able to read and to speak texts wiht correct german pronuntiation. They wiil acquire the principles of german orthography. They will be able to understand local varieties of native speakers (except of dialects). In lectures they will acquire an overview of german phonetics and phonology in comparison with the Czech ones.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of segmental components in current German.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test

All examinations and consultations are held in German. Reading and speaking with correct pronunciation, test in orthography.
