Learning outcomes
This course deals with the history, present of literature for children and young people in German-speaking countries and didactic work with it. After a brief historic overview of the work in seminars focusing chronologically on the Grimm fairy tales, legends, artificial fairy tales (W. Hauff), Münchhausen, Die Schildbürger, Till Eulenspiegel and other major authors (W. Busch, Erich Kästner) and lyrics like Struwwelpeter, Biene Maja including literature for girls (Emmy von Rhode: Trotzkopf). Literature of the 20th century and authors as Ottfried Preussler, Michael Ende, Isolde Heyne, Cornelia Funke are focused. The aim of the seminar is to learn to recognize the quality of literature for children and young people, to be able to select a suitable text for teaching German.
Orientation in literature for children, ability to work with texts during school lessons.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of German on level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
