Course content
w eek /1.-3- Woche: Methods and examples Methoden der Textanalyse, erprobt in ausgewählten Berichten, Anzeigen, Kritiken week/ 4.-6- Woche: Kinds of written communication: to report and to inform Formen des Berichtens: Nachricht, Protokoll, Kurz-Info; week /7.-9. Woche: Texts with functions of appeal Appellative Texte ( der Werbung, PR, Rede) week /10.- 12. Woche: Kinds of arguments and reason Argumentationsmuster und -stile in Kritiken (Buch-,Filmkritik) From the 13th week / ab 13. Woche: repetitions

Learning outcomes
The aim of this seminar is to awaken the student`s interest in types and patterns of text organisation - and to develope methods to regard and observe them. The focal points of discussion become 1) the grammatical means of linguistic cohesion (the use of articles, sequence of tenses, modality, pronouns, subjunctions and adverbs), 2) the lexical means of coherence (synonyms of context, collocations, isotopic chains, word formation, patterns of argumentation, description and narration).3. After that are to be regarded the text functions and their typology and the means of an effective forming and desighning texts - by stylistic elements, figures and shapes and the stylistic parameters of the context.
The qualification, which enables students to set up skilled texts; knowledge of special conceptions.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of German morphology and syntax.

Seminar work

All examinations and consultations are held in German. Training and tests in creative writing (nonfiction).
