Course content
Topics of lectures: 1. Quality 2. National quality policy. National Quality Award 3. Legislative and normative aspects of quality 4. Conformity assessment. Certification. Accredited, authorized and notified persons. Regulated sphere 5. QMS - introduction 6. ISO 9000 series 7. TQM. EFQM Excellence Model 8. Specific standards related to QMS. Integrated management systems 9. CSR 10. Quality marks. Eco-labeling of products 11. Bioproduction 12. Fair trade 13. Quality in relation to selected commodities 14. Credit Exercises: Distribution of issues from the lectured topics. Individual presentations of students, presentation of seminar papers in PP on announced topics with discussion. Professional excursions: Selected production organizations and testing institutes in the range of 12 teaching hours.

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students with basic attainments from quality The basic item: Quality. Historical aspects of quality. The importance of quality in the marketplace. National policy of quality support. Quality legislation. Technical standardisation. Conformity assessment and certification. Accreditation, authorization and notification. Safety of production. Introduction to quality management. Environmental aspects of quality. Social aspects of quality. CSR.
Students understand the basic concepts of quality, especially in connection with the issues of national quality policy, technical standardization, conformity assessment and quality management systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Seminar work, Interim evaluation

Credit Requirements: Pesentation of an individual seminary labour, excursion and lecture attendance. Examination Requirements: A written test (60% of the success).
