Course content
Course consisting of theoretical sessions (approx. 1/4), skill-development sessions (approx. 1/2), reflection sesstions: connecting theory with practice (approx. 1/4). 1. The art of thinking. Learning outcomes
The course aims at fostering students' understanding of the pedagogical principles of Philosophy for Children (P4C); the theoretical basis is complemented by practical exercises developed skills related to the facilitation and reflection of philosophical dialogue and inquiry understood as a way of fostering thinking and present pedagogical tools (philosophical novels, discussion plans, exercises, activities) based on P4C principles.
Students will acquire: 1) knowledge of the chosen pedagogical discourse 2) philosophical (critical, creative, caring) thinking skills, 3) fundamentals of facilitation skills necessary for facilitating a philosophical dialogue.
