Course content
1. Psychology as a separate science discipline, its subject, methodology 2. Pluralism in psychology, paradigms 3. Determination of human psyche (biological, sociocultural) 4. Basic concepts of general psychology, mental contents, states and processes, constructs a mental representations, models of the human psyche 6. The structure of cognitive processes, their classification, relationships (sensation, perception, presentation, speech, language, thinking) 7. Disposition, abilities, intelligence 8. Attention 9. Learning 10. Emotions 11. Motivation 12. Creativity 13. Will, conception of volitional processes, planning, decision making 14. Concept of personality, structure and dynamics of personality 15. Concept of type, type approach to personality (Kretschmer, Sheldon) 16. Concepr of trait, trait approach to personality (Eysenck, Cattell, Big Five) 17. Temperament 18. Character 19. Motivation, frustration, conflict 20. Coping with the demands of life (stress, crisis) 21. Classical psychoanalysis (Freud) 22. Analytical psychology (Jung) 23. Individual psychology (Adler) 24. The contribution of behavioristic theories of learning to the concept of the personality (Skinner) 25. The issue of personality in social-cognitive theories of learning (Bandura) 26. Phenomenological and humanistic conceptions of personality (Frankl, Rogers)

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
Acquiring accurate definitions of psychological terms. Basic insight into the system and terminology of general psychology and personality psychology. Experiencing psychological terms based on the particular textbook examples and practical examples. Understanding relationships between terms. Ability to apply knowledge in practice.
The student is able to adequately naming psychic phenomena, define them correctly and is able to think pluralistic. Understanding of himself and others is deepens through insight into the complexity of the human psyche, aquiring the basic concepts of theories of personality and through reflection on their aplications in specific situations (not only) with clients.
