Course content
1) Definition of the terms - modern, premodern, postmodern, antimodern, hypermodern. The great stories of modernity and the disintegration of the philosophy of history in postmodernity. Definition of time, field and space - postmodernism in literature, philosophy, architecture etc. The modern metaphor of construction and the postmodern metaphor of the network. 2) Continental postmodernism, especially German and French - relativistic, nihilistic, and hermeneutic. 3) Science as an authority in modernity and the postmodern crisis of the foundations of the sciences. 4) Personalism, philosophy of existence. 5) The problem of the search for meaning in modern and postmodern thought.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to introduce the change of a paradigm of thinking between modernism and postmodernism to the students.
Each student will gain the ability to appraise critically the changes in thinking of modernism and postmodernism.
