Piaget's model of moral development 2) Stages of moral development according to Lawrence Kohlberg a) Kohlberg's model of the development of moral reasoning. b) Selman's model of social perspective. c) C. Gilligan's contribution and women's morality. 3) Erikson's model of moral development. 4) Moral development and moral education. a) Psychology of moral development in psychoanalysis and behaviorism. b) Ethics and human values from the perspective of the helping professions. c) Case studies

Learning outcomes
|
In the course Psychology of Moral Development, students will learn about the development of moral thinking in the works of J. Piaget, L. Kohlberg, and E. Erikson and will be able to explain ethical dilemmas and motivations and attitudes at different stages of human ontogeny on the basis of these theories. Students will acquire or consolidate the following professional knowledge and skills in the course: - Knowledge of the theory of psychological development in terms of moral attitudes; - Skills: to understand human ontogeny from an ethical perspective, to be able to explain ethical dilemmas, motivations and attitudes at different developmental stages.
Students acquire developmental approach to moral action, learn some models of moral development and practice applying the models to education and social work.

Prerequisites
|
The course assumes knowledge of general psychology, personality psychology and developmental psychology at the undergraduate level.

Requirements for the student The course concludes with a detailed discussion by the examiner with several students (groups of max. four) on the book Psychology of Moral Development by H. Heidbrink, during which the examiner will check the extent and quality of the individual students' knowledge and understanding of the topics covered in the book. Organisation of studies In the combined form of study, the course is organized in the form of two 4-hour blocks of scheduled consultations per semester. Within this timetabled tutorial there will be space for answering students' questions on the literature just studied, introducing the system of the syllabus and explaining selected more difficult passages. Since there is literature available for the course, the focus of the course is self-study. It is recommended that the student read the study texts before the second scheduled tutorial. In the full-time form of study, classes are scheduled for 2 hours per week (students in the combined form of study may also attend these seminars if they are able). Individual work of the student (control of independent study) Self-study checking consists in checking whether the student responds meaningfully to questions in the professional discussion, which are directed towards the basic study literature.
