Course content
1.-3. Key concepts of literary science (including extracts from literary works- the texts have been selected from fundamental works of the world literature and the children´s and youth literature). Literary education as a multifunctional aesthetic educational process. The aims of literary education. The issue of literary erudition. The relation between literary science and literary education. 4.-6. Development of reading skills and cultivating reading habits, readers ´ interests and competences. Prejudice about reading. The future of reading in the 21st century. Personal Reading History. 7.-9. Teaching strategies. Motivation strategies. Traditional and stimulating methods (e.g. reading, critical thinking methods, reflection methodology, activities of reproduction, preparatory games, exercises, improvisation). Literary comunication. Literary text. Education of readers. 10.-13.Didactic interpretation of texts in the process of communicative literary education. Specificity of the principles of didactic interpretation.

Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for working with artistic literary texts within leisure-time pedagogy. The emphasis is put on the developement of activity, creativeness, communication, independent critical thinking, ability for cooperation and complete personality development including forming subjective, critical aesthetic judgements.
The student is knowledgable in literary education.
Prerequisites
No previous knowledge beyond the standard requirements for entrance examination is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment

Active participation in seminars, continuous working out given tasks. The knowledge of literature.
