Course content
Continuous and annotated reading of professional Spanish written text focused on a given area (introduction to professional vocabulary, specifics of professional style) in seminars, including interpretation of a text and discussion on the issue. 1.-2. Development of social work in a selected Latin American country. 3.-4. Immigration and asylum policy. 5.-6. Job opportunities and unemployment. 7.-8. Family and social care. Divorce as a social problem of today. 9.-10. Violence and crime. Work with young people, work with vulnerable groups. 11.-12. Work with the elderly and the chronically ill, assistance for the disabled. 13.-14. The social care system in a selected Latin American city.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the reading of a foreign language professional text in the field of social work and ethics in social work. Focused on the environment of Latin America.
Students will be able to translate easier professional texts.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the Spanish language.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Systematic student observation

Active participation in seminars (75%) - reading, translation, interpretation of a text and subsequent discussion on a given issue. Home preparation in the form of translation of assigned texts. Students choose three professional articles in Spanish related to the topic of social work and ethics in social work and prepare points for a discussion prepares points for a discussion in which they describe the Hispanic-American reality related to a specific social issue. Students consult with the teacher on the selection of topics of professional articles. Method of knowledge verification: consultation with the teacher. The dates of consultations will be arranged individually by students in time by email.
