Course content
1-4. Education and the philosophy of science: - education theory understood as social science x philosophy of education - issues in educational terminology - education sciences in the context of postmodern though - issues in the methodology of educational research 5-6. Educator as a professional: related issues - educational theory and school policies - teacher knowledge base 7-8. Research into teacher knowledge - research into pedagogical content knowledge - research into the knowledge of educational ends, purposes and values 9. Curriculum research - curriculum theory - research into implemented curriculum 10-13. Presentation of issues chosen and elaborated by the students

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The aim is to introduce students to current issues in Czech education theory and teaching practice as well as to give them the opportunity to reflect independently and thoroughly on the possible perspectives and solutions related to the respective issues.
Students should acquire a competence to evaluate current issues in educational discourse in relation to educational policies and to general aims, purposes and values of education.
Prerequisites
Instruchion Design for Middle School (DIŠZ) C capacity of the seminar is aimed only for students of the 4th year of Bachelor fields of study focused on education (leading to Učitelství pro 2. stupeň ZŠ)

- Active participation in seminars - Elaborating and presenting a current issue in educational theory, practice and research according to students' own choice
