Learning outcomes
Students should develop a basic understanding of alternative approaches to education, including alternative concepts of educational goals and interactive models of education. The key questions asked will be about the reasons and meanings of alternative schooling, particularly in relation to the humanist and democratic influence alternative schooling has always had on the public debate on schooling in general.
In this sense the students should be able to take an authentic stand, for example, on issues such as merits and disadvantages of traditional pedagogy versus a more diverse, innovative, interactive and creative model of education, even though this might be taking place under the unifying umbrella of a national curriculum.
